Seaborn Jones Baggett, the eldest son of Uzziel and Sarah Baggett, was a Peters Colony pioneer in Dallas County like his father. He was born in 1825 in Walton County, Georgia, and was named for Seaborn Jones, a prominent Georgia politician of that day. At age 19, he accompanied his father to the Republic of Texas and in 1855, received patents to 640 acres in the vicinity of present-day Cedar Hill.
On 17 June 1847, he married Mary Ann Robinson, the daughter of a neighbor, Hugh Robinson. Robinson, a Peters colonist, was a native of North Carolina and had migrated to Bond County, Illinois, around 1818. In 1847 Robinson, then a widower, made the 30-day trip with his unmarried daughter, Mary Ann and his youngest son, James, by ox drawn wagon to Dallas County.
Seaborn Baggett moved from Dallas County to Ellis County in 1854, but is known to have been a leader in the organization of Ellis County in 1850. Seaborn and Mary Ann Baggett were the parents of seven children: Uzziel Robinson (born 25 January 1849, died young); Mary Jane (born 11 October 1851, married G. W. Henderson); Sarah Elizabeth (born 17 January 1853, married P. E. Rape); Frances Sabell (born 10 May 1856, married J. M. Griffith); Emily McClara (born 28 April1858, married (1) C. F. Hays and (2) J. L. Crawford); Allen Thomas (born 19 March 1861, married Sara L. Boydstun); Rufus Rush (born 10 May 1866, never married).
Seaborn J. Baggett died 14 July 1885. His wife, Mary Ann was born 20 January 1826 in Bond County, Illinois, died 31 May 1901 and is buried beside her husband in Midlothian City Cemetery.
