Tildon Barnes Crosby born 1 November 1876, died 8 April 1948, came to Texas with his father James Willeford Crosby in 1876. He married 3 October 1900 Jenny Florence Dotson born 16 December 1880, died 4 December 1909, buried McCree Cemetery, Dallas County. As a young man he rode the cattle range in West Texas. After his marriage he farmed with his father east of Vickery on what is now Church Road. They were the parents of two girls, Jimmie born 19 February 1902, died 28 June 1902 and Mayme born 20 July 1903, died 6 January 1986.
Jenny became seriously ill and asked Tildon’s mother to take their daughter Mayme home with her and take care of her. Mayme married 5 January 1924 Clifford Newton Rains born 25 March 1919, died 9 January 1974. He farmed the Crosby property when they first married; years later they moved to Lewisville, Texas. They were the parents of six children:
1) Edna Earl Rains born 26 February 1925, married 22 July 1949 John Lewis Waite born 24 September 1924, died 19 March 1968. John was owner of Waite Plumbing Company in Lewisville, Texas. Edna Earl was a teacher in the Lewisville Independent School District. They have three boys, Gary Lee, John Clifford and Gillon Ray; and a daughter Leona Jo.
2) Scotty Barnes Rains born 2 March 1927 married 19 November 1955 Jo Ann Crockett. He worked for Simmons Bedding Company, Dallas, Texas for 32 years. They have two daughters, Patricia Elaine and Paula Sue.
3) Clifford Wendell Rains born 27 January 1929, married 24 October 1933 Billie Jo Nash. He worked for General Motors, Arlington, Texas. He was in the US Army 45th Division in 1951. They have two sons, Wendell Neal and Galon Nash, and a daughter, Dana Lynn.
4) Helen Leona Rains born 15 February 1930, married 14 June 1952 John Lawrence Gorman, II, and is in the insurance business in Houston, Texas. They have three sons, John L. III, Gregory Paul and Michael David, and a daughter, Lou Anntonett.
5) Doyle Ray Rains born 15 March 1934 married 14 October 1950 Jean Audrey Roberson. He was an Army Sergeant on Okinawa for two years in 1954. He works for Shell Oil Company in the Research Department, Houston, Texas. Their two children are Susan Jean and Doyle Ray “Bud” Jr. Bud is an Army Sergeant and Helicopter Mechanic in the US Army for four years.
6) Ronald Mac Rains born 2 September 1941 works in the plumbing and building industry, Honey Grove, Texas.
Tildon Crosby married (2) 1916, Eliza Catherine Dixon born 1880, died 1944, Vickery, Texas. The two children by this marriage were:
1) Clarinda Crosby born 16 June 1917, married Donald Yandell. Their children are Rita Ray and Donald.
2) Albert Sydney “Bud” Crosby born 6 February 1919, married Francis Rowland. They have one daughter, Kay Francis who married Frank Ellis.
