Monsieur Pierre Philip Frichot was born in Paris, France. There he was educated and studied architecture and construction. In1856, after his wife died, he decided to bring his son Achille and his daughter Leontine to the new French colony in Dallas. He settled there and remained until its dissolution in the late fifties. He moved to the town of Dallas and purchased a tract of land near the vicinity of where Bryan and Harwood are now located.
ith his younger brother, Desire Christophe, his son, his son-in-law, Jean Priot, and Emil Remond, he organized a company, which soon was doing a thriving business, not only making bricks but also lime kilns. Theirs was the first brickyard in Dallas, and all the brick houses and concrete structures of that day were built by the Frichot brothers.
In 1873 Philip Frichot returned to France and lived there for two years. During his stay there he learned that his only grandson, Ernest Priot, had contracted lockjaw and was seriously ill. He left immediately and arrived in Dallas a week after his grandson had been buried. He died in Dallas in 1880 and is buried in the Old City Cemetery.
