Elias Jefferson Ball and wife, Ollie Florence Yates

Jeff Ball was born in 1870, the son of Henry Washington Ball and wife, Frances “Frankey” Adams. Frankey was the daughter of Elias and Elizabeth (Harris) Adams of Alabama, who married in 1861. Jeff married Ollie Yates in 1893. She was born in 1877 at Forney, Texas, the daughter of Elijah Marion “Eli” Yates and his wife, Angirona Wiggins, who had come from Mississippi by wagon train. Jeff and Ollie raised the following children:

  • Edith Claire (1894-1945) in 1928 married (1) William Eugene Briscoe at Forney, Texas, in 1912; (2) A. J. Mason, and (3) Onie Cleo “Harry” Keller in Bryan County, Oklahoma.
  • Marion Yates “Red” (1897-1960) in 1928 mar­ried Ethel Aslin (died 1939), daughter of John and Hattie Aslin. He married (2) at Kaufman in 1941 Irene Honeycutt, daughter of George Richman.
  • Fannie Mae (1900-1989) in 1914 married Abe Jones, son of Miles and Lizzie (Briscoe) Jones. Fannie married (2) in 1929 Elmer Raby.
  • Ruby Clyde (1902-1991) in 1927 married Shands Eugene Douglas of Forney, a Dallas Power and Light Company employee.
  • Jeffie (born 1906) graduated from CIA at Denton with two degrees, and taught at Forney High School and David’s Episcopal Day School in Garland. She was a secretary at Neiman-Marcus and a legal clerk at the Equitable in Dallas. She married Clark Hans Jenson of Clifton, Texas, who was an appraiser for the Federal Land Bank at Houston and Equitable at Dallas.
  • Agnes Geraldine (1909-1988) at Denton in 1926 married Rufus Orlando Bedingfield of Rockwall. Agnes was a registered cosmetologist and book­ keeper, and R. 0. was with the Dallas Power and Light Company. They also operated a Hot Point appliance repair shop in Dallas.
