On behalf of Remembering Black Dallas and the White Rock Cemetery Garden of Memories, Inc., in collaboration with the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, we invite you to join us for a state historical marker dedication celebrating the history of the White Rock Cemetery Garden of Memories.

For over 170 years, this recognized city landmark has been the final resting place for many of Dallas’ African American pioneer families who were a part of the White Rock community. The contributions of this once thriving Freedman’s community are still evident today.

Please join us in celebrating the rich history of the cemetery. Thank you for your support!

Driving Directions:

From 635 LBJ Freeway, travel north on Preston Rd., left on Preston Oaks Rd., to right on Cedar Canyon Rd., to right on White Rock Union Cemetery easement.

When you turn onto Cedar Canyon Road you will be in the Oaks of Preston Ridge Apartments at 5619 Preston Oaks. Proceed through the complex and before you get to the next set of gates, you’ll see what appears to be an alleyway on the right. Drive up the concrete alleyway (easement) and around towards the gates. You will see the cemetery gates on the right. Follow the signs for parking.
