Our speaker is Ron Finch of the Waxahachie Historical Society and he’ll be speaking to us about the Bennett pioneer family and how they shaped Dallas in the 1850s. Bennett Avenue in Dallas is named for the family patriarch William Hardy Bennett who arrived in 1856. After moving from Oak Cliff to Waxahachie in 2014, Ron became their local historic preservation leader and helped launch Ellis County’s now-burgeoning historical tourism industry.
