Dallas City Cemetery

One of our longtime members recently visited this location and made the following observations, “This cemetery has a hard to find the entrance which is off Shady Trail south of Old Letot Cemetery – surrounded by businesses with one “emergency” entrance. Seems fairly well maintained by the city. Most of the markers are small with a metal label on top – about the size of a box of kitchen matches, that is if there is a visible marker.”

This location was purchased by the City of Dallas in 1932 and used for burials for about the next forty years. It is also referred to as the Pauper’s Cemetery where people who died without means or family to make their burial arrangements were interred.
