Louisa Elender Cole was born in Arkansas, probably in Crawford County, March 8, 1832. After having moved to Washington County, Arkansas, her parents, John Cole born 1795 and Polly McDonald Cole born 1794, left Arkansas taking her to Texas when she was eleven. Louisa grew up in Dallas County about three miles up Turtle Creek from the Trinity River. She married Albert G. Walker born 1809 in Virginia.
After Dallas County was created the state senators from Nacogdoches County and Robertson County continued to represent the areas they had been responsible for before. In 18 49, after a new district had been formed, Louisa’s husband, Albert G. Walker, was elected to the Texas State Senate. He resigned before his term was up but ran again, and was elected to the Senate for the 1857-1861 term.
Some time between the two terms the Walkers moved from Dallas County to Tarrant County. Louisa and Albert Walker are thought to have had five children. The oldest was a boy born in 1849 named Albert, Jr. The others were Lizzie, John, Walter, and a girl who was called Sis.
Louisa Elender Cole Walker died February 19, 1865 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery.
