Essay Instructions – Senior Division

Senior Division

Format
All submissions must be typed in black ink on white 8-1/2 x 11 letter size paper with 1 inch margins all around, double spaced, using Times New Roman, Calibri or Arial 12 point font. The title and author’s name (on a separate line) should be centered at the top of each page and sequentially numbered in the bottom margin.

Illustrations in the form of sketches, maps, charts and graphs may be embedded within the text not to exceed one fourth of a page size (3-1/4 x 4-1/2 inches) with caption, and limited to one per page. Photographs are not permitted.

Footnotes and a detailed bibliography are required. The illustrations, footnotes and bibliography will not be included in total word count.

Length of essay / word count: 2000 – 2500 words (approximately 8 to 10 pages)

Guidelines

All research, preparation and composition must be personally performed by the contestant. The use of Artificial Intelligence or Open Edit resources (e.g., Wikipedia / Wiki or similar) is prohibited.
