Our meeting on Monday, February 9, 2026 will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Carrollton Public
Library at Josey Ranch Lake, 1700 Keller Springs Road, Carrollton, TX 75006 in the small
Environmental meeting room at the back of the library. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OUR
MEETINGS THROUGH MAY 2026 WILL BE IN THE SMALL MEETING ROOM.
Our speaker this month, Dr. Evelyn Montgomery, is the Director of the Old Red Museum
of Dallas County History and Culture. Her primary responsibility there is the creation of
the new Legacy Dallas project, which includes an online exhibit and a new physical
installation in the Dallas County Records Building. This came about when Dallas County
decided they wanted the physical Old Red Courthouse back as a courthouse and the
museum which had been located there for a number of years had to be dismantled. She’ll
fill us in on what is happening with this newest version of the museum.
Dr. Montgomery served as curator and preservationist at Dallas Heritage Village at Old
City Park for 20 years prior to moving to Old Red in 2019. She may also fill us in on what
is happening at “City Park” as it is now called, since the Dallas Park and Recreation
department took over its management in 2024.
