On behalf of the White Rock Cemetery Garden of Memories, Inc. and Remembering Black Dallas in collaboration with the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department, we invite you to join us for a state historical marker dedication celebrating the history of the White Rock Cemetery Garden of Memories.
For over 170 years, this recognized city landmark has been the final resting place for many of Dallas’ African American pioneer families who were a part of the White Rock community. The contributions of this once thriving Freedman’s community are still evident today.
Please join us in celebrating the rich history of the cemetery.

5619 Preston Oaks
- From 635 LBJ Freeway, go north on Preston Rd to Preston Oaks Rd
- Turn right on Preston Oaks and drive uintil Cedar Canyon Rd
- Turn right on Cedar Canyon Rd and proceed through The Oaks of Preston Ridge apartment complex.
- Eventually the road widens as you approach a set of gates. You’ll see a driveway/alleyway on your right – TAKE THIS RIGHT!
- Follow this little road around to the Cemetery gates – Follow the signs for parking.
