James William Jackson born 1833, died 1871; married 11 February 1858 in Missouri, Elizabeth Ann Dryden born 1842, died 1923. They had one son, J. D., born in Missouri, before moving to Texas in 1860 with James’ parents, Jerre and Susan Jackson.
Seven other children born in Dallas County, Texas included two sets of twins. Jerre Robert, Jr. was born 29 August 1861; Willy Rice and Thomas Jonathan were born 30 December 1863; Elizabeth Annie was born 14 February 1867; Susan Adaline and Sarah Isabella were born 16 March 1869. These children appeared on the 1870 Dallas Precinct 7 Census. Mary Jane, the youngest Jackson child, was born 28 February 1872 after the death of her father.
Susan married Thomas John Ledbetter; Mary Jane married Lois Davis Ledbetter; J. Robert married Iona Lynch; Willie R. married Alice Newham; T. J. married Tilda Beck; E. Annie married P. E. Whitaker; Sarah Bella married P. J. Brown. Some moved on west into Parker, Tarrant, Palo Pinto, and Stephens Counties contending with Indians and outlaws as a part of their daily survival.
James William served first from Missouri in Co. F., Fifth Missouri Cavalry, C.S.A. After his death 12 November 1871, his widow married Isaac C. Hill. Several children were born of this union. Some of these Hill infants are buried in Oak Cliff Cemetery with James William Jackson and Elizabeth Dryden Jackson Hill. Grandma Hill died 7 October 1923 at age eighty-one.
