James Doak Crosby and Nannie Louisa Forbes Crosby

James Doak Crosby born 21 July 1875, in Aberdeen, Mississippi came to Dallas County in 1876 when he was a very small boy with his father, J. W. Crosby. He married 22 March 1893, Nannie Louisa Forbes, born 4 March 1877, died 18 June 1959, buried Furneaux Cemetery. James died 9 April 1965.

He was a farmer and lived northeast of Dallas. A few years after he married he moved into Dallas. He was a policeman from 1912 to 1915.

He decided to go back to farming and moved to Alpha and Carrollton. He was always making a deal to trade land or stock. Crosby Road in the Carrollton area was named for him.

James and Nannie Crosby had three children Clyde Everts born 1894, died 1960; Colemar Curtis born 1897, died 1948; and Bessie Lanarh Crosby born 16 April 1900, married William Fred Laney born 16 April 1887 and died 1 July 1972.
