George Washington Cole was born February 28, 1834 in Arkansas. He was the ninth child of John Cole born 1795 and Polly McDonald Cole born 1794. George was mentally retarded from birth. It is likely that he lived a happy life. He lived with his father and mother until his father died. Then he lived with his mother and brothers until his mother died. He lived with his brother, Joseph, at the old family home until he died in 1871. Always family – always loved. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery.
