This past Saturday, September 3, 2022 volunteers and family members gathered at Big A Cemetery in Rowlett and proceeded to set a military gravestone for War of 1812 veteran Thomas Newman and also to reset the gravestone base for his granddaughter. Pictured below left to right, they are Daniel, Hunter, Susan, Larry, Paul and Drake. Paul had previously worked to clear the area of brush and vines. The granddaughter’s headstone will be repaired and reattached at a later time, and later there will be a ceremony honoring Mr. Newman for his military service during the War of 1812.
