Boll, Jacob
Jacob Boll
Jacob Boll was born in Canton Aargan, Switzerland, a son of Henry Boll, Sr. His brother, Henry Boll, Jr. was one of the first colonist to arrive at La Reunion. Mr. Boll came to Dallas at the time the colony was being abandoned. He had arrived with his son William and his daughter Hetwidge and he made his home in the town of Dallas. In later years, another daughter who had remained in Switzerland with her mother, came to Dallas to join her father after the death of his wife.
He became a naturalist during his active life and he died in Wilbargen County, Texas in 1880 while on one of his numerous trips over the state in search of specimens for his extensive collection. His remains were returned to Dallas where he was buried. Mr. Boll was at times referred to as Professor Boll and was considered one of the best informed men in his chosen fields.
